Paula Alonso (Alberti, Argentina, 1999)

Es psicóloga y artista visual. Nació en una casa de campo y su infancia transcurrió en un contacto cotidiano con la naturaleza, donde el juego y la exploración fueron una forma de descubrir el mundo, mientras registraba formas, colores y ritmos que fueron construyendo su manera de mirar. Mediante la pintura indaga en los procesos de la naturaleza, en diálogo y reflexión con  lo auténtico e indomesticable que habita en los seres humanos.

Estudió Psicología en Buenos Aires y su formación en el campo del arte contemporáneo se desarrolló a través de diversos programas y clínicas de obra como Avistaje Intermitente con Mauricio Escalada, Gustavo Christiansen y Claudio Roveda, NOFIUCHIUR, LUGAR Taller y Análisis de obra con Nahuel Santiago, MEX con Claudio Roveda, y CRÁTER con Agustina Puricelli. 

Fue seleccionada en el Salón Provincial de Arte Joven 2026 por el Museo Pettoruti, y sus últimas exhibiciones han sido en “Cartografías Necesarias” en Futuro Estudio, “Más es Más” y “ASTERISCO” en Espacio Cabrales.

Actualmente vive y trabaja en Mar del Plata. 

Paula Alonso (Alberti, Argentina, 1999)

She is a psychologist and visual artist. She was born in a country house, and her childhood unfolded in daily contact with nature, where play and exploration became a way of discovering the world—while she absorbed shapes, colors, and rhythms that gradually shaped her way of seeing. Through painting, she explores the processes of nature, in dialogue and reflection with the authentic and untamable that dwells within human beings.

She studied Psychology in Buenos Aires, and her training in the field of contemporary art has developed through various programs and work critique groups, including Avistaje Intermitente with Mauricio Escalada, Gustavo Christiansen, and Claudio Roveda; NOFIUCHIUR; LUGAR Taller y Análisis de obra with Nahuel Santiago; MEX with Claudio Roveda; and CRÁTER with Agustina Puricelli.

She was selected for the 2026 Provincial Young Art Salon (Salón Provincial de Arte Joven) by the Pettoruti Museum, and her most recent exhibitions include "Cartografías Necesarias" at Futuro Estudio, and "Más es Más" and "ASTERISCO" at Espacio Cabrales.

She currently lives and works in Mar del Plata, Argentina.

STATEMENT

Exploro los procesos, formas y comportamientos de la naturaleza, en íntima relación con lo auténtico e indomesticable del ser humano. Me interesa la morfología de una flor y los procesos de polinización, el interior de un caracol, el patrón de coloración de un insecto, la erupción de un volcán, la simbiosis entre especies, la organización colectiva de las hormigas, el instinto animal. Mi práctica parte de esa observación atenta para encontrar formas que existen también en nosotros mismos. En estos registros, descubro pulsiones y flujos mínimos e imperceptibles que conviven con otros de gran magnitud, desbordantes y arrasadores. 

Trabajo en lienzo y papel, con acrílicos, lápices, aerosol, pasteles al óleo y una paleta amplia y contrastante. La composición de cada obra se va definiendo en el hacer, dejando que lo observado se traduzca en gestos espontáneos, instintivos y rítmicos, que el cuerpo y la materia hablen antes de que la razón y la palabra domestiquen la obra. Esta fidelidad al impulso gestual busca que la pintura acontezca como la naturaleza. Es un trabajo sostenido por capas y el ejercicio de amplificar e ir al detalle, donde ambos niveles tienen la misma jerarquía. De esta manera, emergen entramados vivos, de formas que proliferan, se superponen y se deshacen. 

Mi obra se comporta como la naturaleza se comporta.

I explore the processes, forms, and behaviors of nature, in intimate relation to the authentic and untamable within the human being. I'm interested in the morphology of a flower and the processes of pollination, the interior of a snail, the coloration pattern of an insect, the eruption of a volcano, the symbiosis between species, the collective organization of ants, animal instinct. My practice begins with that attentive observation, seeking forms that also exist within ourselves. In these registers, I discover minimal, imperceptible drives and flows that coexist with others of great magnitude—overflowing and overwhelming.

I work on canvas and paper, with acrylics, pencils, spray paint, oil pastels, and a broad, contrasting palette. The composition of each piece takes shape in the making, allowing what is observed to translate into spontaneous, instinctive, and rhythmic gestures—letting the body and the material speak before reason and language domesticate the work. This fidelity to gestural impulse seeks for the painting to happen the way nature happens. It is a practice sustained through layers and the exercise of amplifying and going into detail, where both levels hold the same hierarchy. In this way, living networks emerge—forms that proliferate, overlap, and dissolve.
